Hello, I'm Gavin, and 4uxdesign is my freelance full-stack web development business. Based in Buckfastleigh, Devon, UK, I work with clients worldwide, delivering high-quality digital solutions. My design philosophy is rooted in simplicity. As an advocate of Occam's Razor, I believe that the most effective solutions are often the simplest. Clean, efficient code leads to optimal performance, not by omitting features, but by ensuring that every included feature serves a clear and necessary purpose.
Performance and longevity come from solutions that are coded efficiently This will save you money over the lifetime of the product and who doesn't want that?
Here's the nerdy bit. I build solutions using combinations of HTML5, CSS3, JavascriptES6, Python3 and others. I use libraries such as Bootstrap5, Tailwind CSS and jQuery3.7 slim, frameworks incl. Flask and Django combined with PostgreSQL databases. For e-commerce solutions I recommend using Shopify and I can help you build your perfect shop using this technology. Whilst this is by no means an exhaustive list you may be wondering what it all means.
The TLDR; is that these technologies allow me to help you by building the website you need.
I maintain my profile on Github a website that developers use to store and share code.
My profile can be found here: Github Profile
Whether you are looking for a striking landing page or a full e-commerce solution I can help you by building a site that is tailored to your needs. I build bespoke solutions at a great price. As a full-stack web developer I understand both the frontend (what you see in your browser) and the backend (the bit that stores the data, user accounts, product details etc).

Welcome to my portfolio. Here you will find five of my favourite projects showcasing my skills and experience in web application development. This is by no means a complete list but the technologies used include HTML, CSS, JavaScript & Python. Libraries include jQuery and Bootstrap. Frameworks used are Flask and Django. Databases built with PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy. Platforms used include Heroku, AWS, ElephantSQL and Tembo.
This website, built using HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap5. The site also features custom Javascript for the cookie banner, a contact form using EmailJS and a Bootstrap5 modal for the 'About 4uxdesign' section. The Bootstrap5.3 source files have been downloaded rather than using a CDN. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages with a custom domain name.
This is a rewrite of my first diploma project, a website for my wife's gardening business. Built using HTML5 and CSS3 with the Bootstrap5 library providing the responsive layout. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages with a custom domain name.
This website was commissioned by an Occupational Therapy business based in South Africa. Built using HTML5, CSS3 and JavascriptES6 with Bootstrap5 providing the responsive layout. EmailJS allows messaging direct from the site. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages with a custom domain.
This was the third milestone project for my diploma studies. A web app POS system allowing the user to build a custom inventory of items for sale. Designed with a mobile first approach the idea was that the POS could be combined with a mobile based contactless payment app and allow small businesses or car boot/market sellers to easily track sales. The backend allowed sales to be exported as a .csv file that could then be imported into suitable accounting software. A full-stack application with a responsive frontend built using HTML5 and Bootstrap5 CSS/Javascript. The backend was built using Python3 and Flask with a PostgreSQL database. The site was hosted on Heroku and was live when graded but has since been archived.
This was the fourth and final project for my diploma studies. The idea was for a Doctor Who merchandise shop. A full-stack e-commerce application with a responsive frontend built using HTML5, CSS3, JavascriptES6, Bootstrap5.3 plus jQuery3.7. The backend was built using the Django framework, custom Python3 with a PostgreSQL database. The site featured an online shop with a custom built checkout utilising Stripe for payments. Users had the option to create an account and login to view their order history. A site admin could add, edit and delete products, categories, users and orders. Final deployment was on Heroku, the static images hosted on AWS and the database on Tembo.io. The site was live when graded but has since been archived.
